Way back in 1973, a young engineer named Chris Russell took his new prototype amplifier, the PRO 3, to an A list studio in Toronto for an audition. He left with an order for two.

Nearly five decades later, that amp has evolved into the Bryston 3B Cubed. It’s twice as powerful as the original and ten times as impressive. Though it’s one of our smaller amplifiers, it features all the same technology found in our venerable 4B. One big advantage, however, is the shallow depth. The 3B Cubed is a great all around amp, but is especially useful for shallow mounting depth applications.

The Bryston BP-19 leverages years of R&D and many design innovations that were achieved during the development of the multi-award-winning BR-20 preamplifier. On the face of it, all a line-stage has to do is allow you to select between sources and set the system level. Sounds simple? Yet, not only is the quality and performance of the line-stage an absolutely key factor in determining overall system performance, there are fewer contenders for stateof-the-art line-stage honors than in any other product category. Maybe designing the best possible line-stage isn’t quite so simple after all.

Any great line-stage must possess transparency, ultra-low noise performance and absolute stability. It must anchor the incoming signals and deliver them onwards, propelled from a firm footing that ensures dynamic and musical authority. It must pass the source signals in your system, without limitation or disturbance, leaving no trace of itself on their passage. Like its bigger brother, the M1.1 Reference power amplifier, there’s a lot more to the A1.5 than meets the eye – just in a more compact and more affordable form.

Faced with exactly the same challenges as the M1.1, the A1.5 embodies the same sophisticated, modular and scalable approach. It might be (slightly) smaller than the M1.1 and around two-thirds of its weight, but it’s still four amplifiers in one. It still offers the same adaptable, software controlled topology, adjustable input configuration and gain, user selectable global feedback ratio and cost-effective upgrade path. It offers exactly the same, incredibly short signal path, fully discrete, fully balanced and fully complementary circuit, built with the same carefully selected components to the same exacting standards. Even the casework, although shorter, has the same footprint, uses the same construction and includes the same mechanical grounding/stacking system. In fact, in every important way, the A1.5 is, quite literally, an M1.1 writ small – or, in Hollywood terms, “Honey, I shrank the amp…”.

Traditionally, power amps have always been the simplest of audio components, at least on the outside: little more than a set of inputs, a set of outputs and a power switch. Until now.

The problem is that although power amps themselves might appear simple, their job is anything but straightforward. Caught in a sandwich between the output of a line-stage or DAC and the load requirements and sensitivity of any number of different loudspeakers, they must be able to accommodate the widest range of partnering equipment and interface parameters presented to any unit in the audio system. Achieving optimum results under such varied conditions demands a capable and versatile performer – yet as we’ve already established, most power amps offer a single, brute force solution to the problems they face, instead of adopting a more sophisticated response. It’s time for a change – it’s time to meet the CH Precision M1.1, a new-paradigm in power amplification.

When it comes to musical integrity, nothing says “walk silently – but carry a big stick!” quite like the new L10.

By keeping the recipe and refining the ingredients – something that’s easily said but which has taken all of our accumulated knowledge and experience to achieve. But achieve it we did. The L1 set a new benchmark. The L10 sets an entirely new standard for musical performance.

The L10 retains the fully discrete, balanced and complementary design, ultra-short signal paths and heavily regulated and filtered, multi-stage power supplies, wide-bandwidth, high slew-rate and DC coupled topology of the L1. It incorporates the same sophisticated R-2R ladder volume control, sophisticated DC detection and cancellation circuitry and software control. But while the overall topology might seem familiar, the execution takes performance to a completely new level.

Being a CH Precision component, versatility, upgradability (to full four-chassis, true monaural topology) user configurable operation and a full-function control interface come as standard. Exceptional audio and musical performance comes as standard too – except that in this case, that performance is truly extraordinary.

Rewriting the record books is never easy – especially when it comes to audio and musical performance.
Sometimes that challenge is more than just sonic. In the case of the M10 we had to answer practical and physical demands as well.

In a few short years, our M1.1 has become a classic, setting the standard in terms of both performance and versatility. So superseding it, establishing a completely new level of musical capability was always going to demand a major effort and a complete re-think, re-examining every part down to component level. The result was a unique new input stage that significantly outperforms existing circuits, all new circuit boards, re-laid to minimise induced noise and distortion and upgraded components throughout the signal path – all contributing to a dramatic increase in low-level resolution, transparency, natural tonality and musical flow. But at the other end of the scale, headroom is a major limitation on amplifier performance. Dynamic swings can test even the M1.1’s generous 200 W/Ch rated output, so for the M10 we didn’t just increase that by 50%, we doubled the power supply capacity too, creating an output stage with massive musical potential. That reservoir of power doesn’t just come into play on musical climaxes. It gives the quietest passages and instruments the same stable clarity and presence you hear in real life, it precisely traces changes in level and musical density, it holds instruments separate but places them precisely within a single space. It recreates the energy and chemistry of the original performance – and when that performance reaches its climax, the M10 reproduces that too. Effortlessly!

It’s remarkable how much of the technology from the Altair II and Performance series Virgo II preamplifiers is preserved in the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0. The core audio circuits are the same. The power supply retains its triple-transformer design. The dual mono design is there, too. The chassis is built from CNC-machined aluminum slabs, crafted in the same metal shop that builds the enclosures for the Reference and Performance series components.

We like to say the Inspiration PREAMP 1.0 is distilled, not diluted. It embodies the essence of our earlier work while retaining the subjective musicality and objective performance that won so much acclaim for our previous preamps.

The Constellation Audio Inspiration INTEGRATED 1.0 is the newest member of Constellation Audio’s most affordable Inspiration Series, and joins its preamplifier and amplifier line-mates in delivering the performance that is expected from Constellation Audio at a more affordable price.
Delivering plenty of power, 100 wpc into 8 Ohms (and twice that into 4), a full array of balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs, a home theater bypass, and an included headphone amp, the Inspiration INTEGRATED 1.0 provides the easiest entrance into the world of Constellation Audio.

The Inspiration MONO 1.0 amplifier easily delivers 400 watts per channel into 8 ohms, doubling to 800 into 4 ohms. This is power enough to produce incredible, concert-hall dynamics with any speaker. Yet it is the size of a standard audio amplifier and weighs just 55 pounds.

Achieving a perfect balance between the two halves of an audio signal is possible only when the incoming signal is itself perfectly balanced. This is why the Inspiration STEREO 1.0 uses the same Line Stage Gain Module circuit found in all Constellation Audio products.
The Line Stage Gain Module’s servo circuits assure that both halves of an incoming signal are perfectly balanced, no matter what the source.But if the source is a Constellation Audio preamp — which of course has its own Line Stage Gain Module — then so much the better. Because you can then use the Constellation Direct balanced input, which bypasses the Inspiration STEREO 1.0’s input stage for the best possible fidelity.

Pictor is an elemental version of our acclaimed Performance Series Virgo III line stage. It uses the same core circuit topology as Virgo III, and a few minor changes aside, the same separate power supply. The main difference is that Pictor has fewer inputs. For simpler systems, Pictor is the perfect choice: simplicity and sound quality distilled into a single product.
As with all of our preamps, Pictor uses our Line Stage Gain Module, a unique design that uses a servo circuit to monitor and maintain the balance between the positive and negative halves of the audio signal. When Pictor is used with a Constellation power amplifier, the Constellation Link may be employed, maximizing sound quality by bypassing the power amplifier’s gain stage.
Pictor mirrors Virgo III’s convenience and refreshingly simple design. A front touchscreen with elegant, easy-to-read fonts accesses all adjustments. Frequently used controls are also available on a machined aluminum remote. A home theater bypass mode is provided for seamless integration with surround-sound systems.

Taurus is something a little different for Constellation. In building their power amplifiers, they tend to focus purely on performance. But after their “dream team” of the world’s top audio engineers created the relatively compact Inspiration Stereo 1.0, they realized they could use some of the same construction techniques to create an exceptionally powerful amplifier in a chassis considerably smaller than that of our Performance Series Centaur III amplifier. And now we have Taurus, an amplifier that stands only 8.5 inches high but delivers 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and comfortably doubles that number into 4 ohms.

Taurus is something a little different for Constellation. In building their power amplifiers, they tend to focus purely on performance. But after their “dream team” of the world’s top audio engineers created the relatively compact Inspiration Stereo 1.0, they realized they could use some of the same construction techniques to create an exceptionally powerful amplifier in a chassis considerably smaller than that of our Performance Series Centaur III amplifier. The RA180 is a state-of-the-art integrated amplifier, using the latest innovative technologies, and also offers a MM/MC phono input, as well as a separate output for a subwoofer.

As Jadis’ most powerful integrated amplifier, the DA88S MkII rewards its listeners with a rich musical experience refined from numerous component and chassis upgrades over its long production history.

The DA88S MkII is a robust 60 watt, pure class-A, KT120 integrated amplifier with five line inputs and included remote control. Thanks to Jadis’ custom-made signature transformers, high-gain low-noise five tube front-end and symmetrical push-pull operation, the DA88S MkII can effortlessly drive all but the most difficult loudspeakers.

The Orchestra Black is a classic 40 watt EL34 push-pull tube integrated amplifier. It features point-to-point wiring, high quality selected components and Jadis’ own in-house hand-wound custom transformers. It is hand-built in France and comes with remote control included.

The Orchestra Black was specially made for the North American market to Bluebird’s specifications. It is a derivative of the popular Orchestra Reference but it includes a tube upgrade from EL34 to the more robust 6CA7 industrial tubes and some proprietary internal tweaks. These changes produce a noticeable sonic improvement. The gold faceplates and transformer covers were replaced with black to give a more modern industrial look and reduce the cost.
As a result of the above effort, the Orchestra Black sounds better and costs less than its predecessor. At $4,495, with remote included, the Orchestra Black delivers outstanding sonic performance and value for money.

The DA50S is a 30 watt, pure class-A, KT120 integrated amplifier with five line inputs and remote control. Four independent modules in the balanced amplification circuit enable the hot and cold components of the left and right audio signals to be handled independently to suppress unnecessary noise generation. Combining an evolved version 4.0 of the traditional ODNF circuit and a robust power supply has achieved high signal-to-noise performance and improved sound quality without distortion. LUXMAN’s original LECUA 1000, a stepped fixed resistance attenuator, is used for the volume adjustment system, a major feature of this new control amplifier. The 88 step range allows for more precise volume adjustment. Further evidence of design over-spec is in the selection of premium “slit-foil” capacitors, which provide plenty of reserve energy for extremely dynamic audio passages and are able to quickly replenish themselves due to the nature of their unique design.
