The AT-OC9XSH Dual Moving Coil cartridge with Shibata stylus is designed to provide outstanding channel separation. How important is the power supply to audio equipment? After all, amplified audio is nothing more than modulated power from the wall that’s been rectified, filtered, and smoothed along the way. At Andromeda’s core is a phono EQ circuit engineered by John Curl, for decades famed as the world’s best phono preamp designer. We combined this musically refined circuit with a technically refined output stage based on the fully balanced Line Stage Gain Modules found in all of our award-winning line stage preamps. We build these circuits using FETs selected specifically for their outstanding, ultra-low-noise performance.

Andromeda’s power supply is one of the best ever used in a phono preamp. We build it into a completely separate chassis which, like the preamp section, is constructed using thick, machined aluminum panels to minimize interference. Inside the supply are individual R-core audio-grade transformers assigned to the left and right channels, plus an EI-type transformer to power Andromeda’s control circuits.

A first for DS Audio, the Master 3 cartridge features the combination of a square pillar diamond cantilever with a Micro Ridge stylus. The DS Master3 equalizer is a dual monaural circuit design with three transformers and completely independent L-channel and R-channel circuits. The power supply has been overwhelmingly strengthened to enable deeper, richer low-frequency expression. The DS Master3 equalizer has balanced and unbalanced outputs, and the low-frequency cutoff frequency can be selected from six different options.

The DV XX-1 was the first cartridge to feature a “magnetic flux damper” (patent) and softened magnetism” (patent) processes that reject the magnetic fluctuation that is detrimental to a moving coil cartridges performance.

The stylus tip has an oval shape that has been used in successive IKEDA cartridges. The body parts and power generation mechanism, which are the key to sound quality, adopt the same structure and processing as the upper model, and produce a well-balanced and energetic reproduced sound.

The Japanese art of Urushi is a tradition dating back 10,000 years. This natural lacquer is sourced from the caustic sap of the indigenous Urushi trees. This is a 9 inch tonearm with unipivot bearing design with a unique, rigid round headshell made from a solid aluminium block and a base of solid brass which control all vibration and facilitate stability of the tonearm as a whole. All parts of the arm are machined from blocks of solid metal, in order to provide damping and minimise resonance. The polished pivot point is sited in an oil well, which provides extremely low friction and bearing vibration. The bearing height is at record level for optimum tracking. The silicone damping controls resonance of the cartridge and also gives stability in azimuth direction.

While similar in construction to the Stogi, this tonearm incorporates a conical tube and the vertical bearings have highly damped brass housing. A conical tubeis machined from solid aluminum rod which has a built-in precise azimuth adjustment worm drive mechanism.

Tonearm geometry, bearing, wires and other parts are the same as Stogi and effective mass differs slightly.

A compact yet heavy turntable made from solid aluminum block with an internal electronic power supply. Drive is provided via a DC motor and a proprietary, non- flexible drive belt. The platter is a constrained sandwich design consisting of three layers (aluminum, acrylic, aluminum) to minimize vibration and maximize platter and lp damping. This is constructed from two plates, each plate being made from a sandwich construction of two 10 mm aluminium plates, separated by an acrylic plate clamped together with pre-stressed, non-magnetic, stainless steel screws. The turntable chassis (top plate) is suspended by large springs submerged in silicone oil, with a low resonance of 2.2 Hz, which dampens movements of the springs themselves. The main base (bottom plate) is supported by three aluminium and stainless steel spikes. The top plate is easily levelled by four knobs. When this plate is lifted (for transport) the silicone suspension reservoirs are automatically sealed.

This is a modern turntable designed in a classic turntable style with the emphasis on providing the best possible record playback.

The turntable’s size allows even 12 inch tonearms to be mounted and covered with its massive acrylic dust cover on spring hinges . The dust cover is constructed not to pick up any vibration from loud music.

Differs from previous Stabi XL, XL2 and XL4 turntables by using a special DC motor, a machined plastic belt and a new power supply (PS DC), which gives a new, unique and uniformly precise drive to the platter. A new platter drive raises the turntable performance to a new level.

Designed to retrieve an incredible level of musical detail from the groove of a record, Adikt uses an efficient and affordable moving magnet (MM) configuration. Even the adhesive used on Krystal was painstakingly selected to provide the most rigid bond possible to avoid any dampening effects.

Kendo is the outcome of Linn’s engineers’ efforts to capitalise on the elements of Ekstatik which work so well; using their tried-and-true, trickle-down development methodology to produce a more affordable, high-performance cartridge which retains the same core design principles and acoustic fingerprint.

Kendo possesses a rigid, nickel-coated 7075-grade aluminium body. This specific grade of aluminium matches that of our Arko tonearm, for which Kendo was designed to be the perfect partner. This facilitates superb material synergy throughout the tonearm system, and effectively banishes unwanted resonances away from the delicate generator, along the arm, and out through the sub-chassis.

The first thing you’ll notice about Kandid is that it is nude – the generator is exposed. With no cartridge housing, potential sources of resonance are removed which results in purer, cleaner sound, making all your vinyl sound better than ever.

Linn have also kept the weight of the cartridge down by using a plastic front yoke screw rather than metal. As well as allowing the counterweight to be moved closer to the bearing point which gives a quicker reaction to changes in the vinyl, using a plastic screw eliminates any magnetic interference to the delicate coils in the cartridge.

Another notable innovation in Kandid is the angle of the mechanical body and the tracking angle of the cantilever which have also been moved from 23° to 20°. This means that when it’s placed under tracking force on the LP surface, the flux lines remain symmetrical, ensuring that mechanical forces on the coils and iron core remain equal in all directions, avoiding any deformation.

Kandid uses the finest nude diamond Line Contact stylus and benefits from a ceramic boron cantilever for ultra low mass and extremely high rigidity. The suspension mechanism supports hand-wound coils secured in a high-precision rigid assembly, terminated with gold contacts on flying leads for superb signal transmission. The coils in the Kandid also feature an extra winding to increase output.

In order for Linn to make their best cartridge ever, they needed to look further afield, and at more varied materials. They conducted extensive experiments; auditioning different materials and configurations for the body, inserts, cantilever, suspension, windings and leads. The result is Ekstatik – the new jewel in the crown of the Linn cartridge range.

Linn’s all-new, flagship cartridge, Ekstatik, sets a new bar for arm/cartridge synergy; its unique construction forges an harmonious synergy with Ekos SE; wicking away more unwanted resonances along the arm, and out through the sub-chassis.

In their search for ever better materials, Linn’s experiments led us to the implementation of aluminium-bronze inserts. Now a feature of Ekstatik, these inserts allow them to reap the sonic benefits they found this alloy to possess.

With a bespoke, honeycomb cut into the cartridge body, Linn have skeletonised Ekstatik so that overall mass is reduced to our preferred sweet spot of close to 7g.

A micro-ridge stylus on a sapphire cantilever makes for an extraordinarily responsive cartridge. The sapphire cantilever is far stiffer than boron or aluminium, resulting in less loss between the stylus and the generator.

That vital union between the platter, spindle, bearing and sub-chassis is now the strongest they have ever achieved. The substantial lock-nut fastening on the stainless steel housing increases rigidity at the critical point where bearing and sub-chassis come together.

Etna λ Lambda SL employs a solid titanium core structure machined with non-parallel surfaces to inhibit internal reflections whenever possible, but unlike Atlas (and Titan i before it), this is mated to a slightly undersized, asymmetric, mirror-black anodized duralumin outer body that locks over the core like a very tightly-fitting jigsaw puzzle. The core and body are augmented with bronze and stainless-steel resonance control rods, then pressure-fit together into a pre-stressed, solid, void-free structure which is comprised of multiple materials and complex internal shapes. The Atlas λ Lambda uses a body that is meticulously carved from a solid billet of titanium, through a process that involves both contact (for the exterior) and non-contact machining (for the interior body structures). By making most of the Atlas λ Lambda body surfaces non-parallel (avoiding dimensions that are multiples of other dimensions) and adding a pre-stressed phase-interference resonance-controlling system, resonances have been further inhibited.

We firmly believe that the Atlas λ Lambda represents an important step forward in LP playback.

The Atlas λ is Lyra’s new flagship phono cartridge. Why asymmetric? By literally misplacing the “barriers” to great sound that are present in every other cartridge today, a number of important performance benefits are realized.

First, different-shaped structures on the left and right sides of the cartridge body suppress the formation of standing waves within, resulting in a significant reduction of resonance-induced colorations. Second, the asymmetric construction offsets the front magnet carrier and its associated mounting system so that it is no longer in line with the cantilever assembly. This opens up a direct, solid path between the cantilever assembly and tonearm headshell so that vibrations from the cantilever can be quickly drained away once they have been converted into electrical signals, again suppressing induced resonances.

The Cadenza Black model is using a Nude Shibata stylus with a boron cantilever. The effective mass of the stylus/cantilever system is extremely low due to the use of a very thin boron rod. This material is extremely stiff and even more lightweight than aluminium.
It also uses the WRD/Wide Range Damping-system applied for MC Windfeld, MC A90, MC Anna, Xpression and MC A95 cartridges, controlling the high and low frequency damping separately.

Created as a companion and to compliment the Series V-12, the Model 30/12 precision turntable enjoys all of the features associated the Model 30/2 precision turntable. The differences are merely ones of scale. The suspension now provides 60 purpose moulded ‘O’ rings supporting the sub-chassis, which has been increased in thickness by some 16%, on one hundred and twenty strands of rubber. The main chassis has received similar attention but in this case the thickness has been increased by 19%. Small differences but necessary to afford the increased rigidity required to ensure acoustic neutrality.
